Italy – Naples 24-25 September 2010
The first International Aquaristic Fair took place in Naples, September 24-26, 2010, and it was an incredible success. For the conferences famous people from around the world were invited to give presentations, it included such names as Jeffrey Tan (Malaysia), Andrew Soh (Singapore), Carmelo Aricò, Varlerio Zupo, Rosario Curcio and also Heiko Bleher (Italy).
Below some abstracts of the presentations …
Andrew Soh was always surrounded by nice girls and gave a talk on Discus genetics (upper); Carmelo Aricò (above, left) talked about breeding methods of Discus; Rosario Curcio (above, right) about the objective beauty of Discus; Jeffrey Tan about The Art of Making a Champion (below); Valerio Zupo about breeding marine fishes and Heiko Bleher (lower) gave a seminar about Discus in Nature and in Aquaria: Where they come from and how to keep them correctly including their correct nutrition; his second talk was about: Wild Discus vs. Tank Breed Discus – problems and solutions.
Jeffrey Tan, who talked about The Art to make a Champion presented in detail Mendel’s Law – the law of segregation with some examples on base colour and pattern, crossing example , about judging examples (which the international participants set new rules at this meeting) and some of his improved strains.
Heiko Bleher’s two seminars were about Discus in Nature and in Aquaria – where they come from, how to keep them the best way and about their nutrition (upper). The second presentation was about the Wild Discus vs. Tank breed Discus – the problems which occur and how to resolve it.
