India – Chennai, in January 2010
My very old friend and once the largest importer of ornamental fish in France, Didier Gendre, centre (his company is over 100 years in business, for 3 generations like mine) has opened a breeding and wholesale company in southern India called Jodi Fisheries, which is run by the Israel guppy expert breeder, Joseph, here together both with Heiko on their nice small stand during Indaquaria 2010 in Chennai.
Jodi Fisheries is located outside of the southern city Chennai, on a nice piece of land with brand new buildings. The office building (centre) is separated from the holding (top) and export building (above).
The holding (and quarantine) building has two large halls, aquarium in 3 rows on top of each other and each one with an individual biological filter.
The entire property is surrounded by water, full with aquatic (submersed) vegetation, like this Ottelia alismoides.
Jodi Fisheries, the fish farm build Didier Gendre from France, with the help of Joseph, is the only one in South India being practical in every sense. There is an easy access to the vats (maybe the filters are not adequate), to the aquariums. Some knowledge went into this construction site. Congratulations Didier and Joseph.
Besides breeding, Jodi Fisheries also handles very rare and beautiful native fishes from all parts of India, here only some examples of their variety ...
… including these rare freshwater pipe fishes, the male being bright green and females here full of eggs to be transferred to the male with its open pouch with ready to receive the eggs as the male incubates the same …
… tiny (miniature) catfishes and baby snakeheads.
… the place is surrounded by nature, I saw some fantastic small spiders near their a very large water reservoir.
