Abstract:

2. The history of Discus breeding around the world
Abstract:
Heiko Bleher will show and talk about the first discus breeders in America and in Europe, how they started and the development of Discus breeding worldwide. He will talk about Dr Eduard Schmidt-Focke, the father of Discus breeding, the recent development in breeding around the globe, including water parameters of some breeders, and feeding methods compared to what the discus nutrition consists of in nature. And conclude the presentation by showing the main errors done around the globe with discus-acquisition, keeping and breeding.

3. New Guinea and Australian Rainbowfish, with the latest discoveries
Abstract:
In this presentation Heiko Bleher talks about the history of Australasia, will show parts of his 37 field trips to New Guinea and his yearly expeditions to Australia. One has to know that almost all of today’s Rainbowfishes and Blue-eyes in the hobby worldwide, including the top ones such as Melanotaneia boesemani, M. preacox, Chilatherina bleheri, have been introduced by him. He will show their habitats and biotopes, explain the individual adaptations and the history of collecting with the native tribes people as well as the exotic introductions and the man-made destructions in recent years.

4. Aquarists around the world
Abstract:
This topic shows some aquarists from around the globe, how they keep (and breed) their ornamental fishes, their love for certain fish groups and the tendency of aquarium decorations according to nature. This talk Heiko Bleher will conclude with Biotope Aquariums – the present and future of the aquarium hobby a round the globe, including the controversy of nature aquariums vs. biotope aquarium decorations.

Regarding to the hall, it’s in the full city centre of Budapest, very neat to the cross of all the railways, so very easy to approach even with public transport. 200 seats are available and the projector screen have 5 metre diametric size.
