The company TROPICAL had invited Heiko Bleher to give an extensive talk about New Guinea and its rainbowfishes. Heiko had put together a special feature of his 37 expeditions and field trips to the 2nd largest island on Earth and some of his many discoveries and introductions into the hobby.
The re were over 150 people – even standing – at the Pet Fair 2009 lecture hall, more than for any other speaker. It was great success and lasted over 3 hours with the brave translator and friend from TROPICAL company Grzegorz Seweryn

Abstract
Fascinating discoveries in New Guinea – Heiko Bleher presented an abstract of 37 expeditions into the second largest island on Earth and to some of the surrounding islands with beautiful new discoveries. It is important to mention, that Heiko Bleher has brought back from Australasia most of the rainbowfishes and blue-eyes swimming in the aquarium hobby worldwide today, including such amazing beauties as the Neon-Rainbowfish, or Fish of the Century (Melanoatenia praecox), the Coral Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia boesemani), Bleher’s Rainbowfish (Chilatherina bleheri), or the Millennium Rainbowfish (Glossolepis pseudoincisus), the forktail blue-eye (Pseudomugil furcatus), just to name a few…
