The Discus Book unlike any other
For the first time since their discovery in 1826 Discus are classified in a manner understandable to everyone. The book is devided into two major categories: Wild-caught Races and Pure-bred Tank breds and Captive-bred Discus Forms and Hybrids.
The classification employed divides the Wild-caught Races and Pure-bred Discus in 4 Groups:
The Heckel Discus, Gruppe, the Brown Discus, the Blue Discus and the Green Discus, the Captive bred Forms and Hybrids are for the first time divided, making sence into 5 additional Groups:
The Türkis (turquoise) striped Discus, the Solid Türkis Discus, the Red-türkis, the Red Discus and Unclassifiable Forms.
The typical representative for each group is shown, and a detailed group description given. Each form bears the exact distribution (wild races), where Heiko Bleher collected and in most cases photographed it upon location. Always the photographic, location, the year, and the photographer´s name is given.
Every Tank bred Discus bears its breeders name and locality photographed. Eight easy to understand symbols tell the reader the average size this form attains, body shape, upper head profile, breast region, finnage, body pattern, pattern colour blue/green and brown/red. Discus lovers know immediately how their Discus must look to be in good condition.
A detailed write up on each race and breeding form is given. It is presented in a solid, special made ring-binder that is updated accordingly, with new discoveries and new breeding forms.
Finally a standard for the King of the Amazon. Already recognized world wide International Discus Groups have adopted this classification and at Discus competitions around the globe the judging of Discus is based on the 9 standard groups of DISCUS.
