China – Shanghai, 14 October, 2010
The aquarium shop with the name Cheng Hao is owned by the Chinese man with the same name and he has a chain of eight beautiful, very large aquarium shops in Shanghai, the city with nearly 30 million people, probably toady one of the most modern and advanced cities in the world. And also the aquarium hobby is at a stage where most of the world’s aquarium shops can look at and be jealous. Cheng Hao has 8 daughters and each one runs one of his 8 aquarium shops in Shanghai – the largest with and incredible variety of rare fishes and the most amazing selection of aquarium. I have never seen such a aquarium plant variety anywhere else (see below). I was invited to visit them and to select the plants and fishes for the biotope aquariums I decorated for the Shanghai Ocean University at the Shaquaria 2010.
Below are some pictures of their selection – mainly of the plants – and how some of their hundreds of aquarium are decorated, actually in a way that everyone who enters this shop will not leave without have bought a beautiful aquarium …
And if anyone is interested: the name Cheng Hao (1032-1085) originates from the pioneer (together with Cheng Yi) of the Song Dynasty Neo-Confucianism. Both were credited with its formal creation along with Zhu Xi and several other scholars… Enjoy.
Note that these Cheng Hao shops do not only have an amazing plant and fish selection but also the newest in accessories from all over the world, like the newest Rolf C. Hagen filter system …
